Newborn Registration Submissions
CHIME offers a streamlined interface for patients wishing to register their newborns with their physician. The process is as follows:
1. Verification of Parent(s) as Current Patients
If current patients: They are directed to the next step in the registration process.
If not current patients: They receive a message indicating that the clinic only accepts newborn registrations from current patients. The message includes recommendations for alternative next steps.
2. Confirming whether the newborn is seeing a midwife
If the newborn is under midwife care: Parents are informed that newborns typically have their first appointment with a physician at two months of age. They are encouraged to register their newborn as early as possible, with a button provided that links to an external registration form on the clinic’s website.
If the newborn is not under midwife care: Parents are advised that their newborn should be seen within 48-72 hours of hospital discharge. A button is provided that links to the external registration form on the clinic’s website.
Additionally, the system informs parents of the next steps, assuring them that once the registration form is submitted, the clinic will contact them via email and phone with their newborn’s appointment details.
