Questions‍ ‍/ Understanding CHIME

Why aren’t some of my dashboard inputs registering?

Clients occasionally ask why it feels like “some” of their dashboard inputs get ignored.

The most likely reason is CHIME is configured to ignore the "first click" whenever the browser window does not have focus (meaning you were previously working in another window), and you “click” within the CHIME dashboard.

The “first click” only activates the dashboard and will not otherwise trigger actions such as “advancing” a patient, cancelling an appointment, opening a window, etc…

Why was this change made?

We have received feedback that users were accidentally clicking buttons or moving patients simply by trying to bring the CHIME window back to the front of their screen, causing issues such as:

  • Accidentally advancing a patient status prematurely.

  • Checking in the wrong patient.

  • Dragging a patient to the wrong room.

To eliminate these errors, CHIME now requires the window to be "active" before it accepts any inputs.
