Rebooting the CHIME Server

Occasionally the server will need to be manually rebooted. This procedure is quite straightforward. Here are the steps…


Your CHIME Server will most likely be located in a “server” or “technical” room and will usually be labeled as “CHIME” or “CHIME Server”. It will have roughly the size and shape of the examples below.

  1. On the CHIME Server, PRESS AND HOLD the blue power button—for around 5 seconds—until the server shuts down

  2. Wait 30 seconds

  3. Press the same power button (no need to hold it down this time)

  4. After about 1 - 2 minutes, double check that your CHIME is accessible from a nearby computer. If not, repeat the above process. If still not working, please contact your Account Manager for further assistance.

  5. If any exam room tablet is showing an error afterwards, reboot the tablet as well

  6. If any TV is showing an error afterwards, reboot the TV companion as well

Rebooting the server will take a few minutes during which all of the CHIME components will be shut down. Because of this we recommend doing this procedure off-hours or when there are very few or no patients in the clinic.
